Since the 60s, Australian gays, lesbians and their friends have been actively working to change mainstream attitudes and actions.

 

Gay Pride is alive and well, evidenced by the popularity of the annual Mardi Gras in Sydney, but we still have a way to go for equal rights.

 

Thanks to the Internet, we have even more ways to take a stand with online petitions, discussion forums and email lobbying.

 

You don’t have to grab a placard and march the streets (unless you want to) but we can’t afford to take our rights for granted.

 

Get involved, even if it’s simply forwarding a link to a friend.

 

We owe it to the courageous women who’ve worked so hard to give us the level of freedom and acceptance we have today.
